P H I L O S O P H Y
Substance abuse, other addictions, victimization and are all complicated individual, family, social, economic, and political problems. The description of these problems, as told by each individual, results in the formation of each client’s story, in which there are multiple realities and interpretations of that story. Respect for the various views, experiences, and expertise is the basis for a “collaborative systems approach.“ In this process, you and I will create a therapeutic conversation in a mutual search for understanding of the problem and the solutions. The therapeutic process/conversation is utilized to facilitate the creation of a space for change. It is my belief that knowledge and meaning are the products of interaction between persons. Based on this belief, I utilize a holistic approach in the development, design, and implementation of the individualize treatment plan.
I firmly believe in the value of “professional cooperation and respect” versus “privileged positions and ideas.” It is my hope that these beliefs will lead to increased collaboration with clients and professional colleagues, creating the opportunity for expanded options for all.
“Believe you can, and you’re halfway there.”
Theodore Roosevelt
